A co-worker suggested her theory of how every year seems to go by faster as you age. Her basic reasoning goes like this: at year one, that entire year is 100% of your life. At year 2, that past year is 50% of your life. At year 3, that past year is 33% of your life. And so on and so forth so that by the time I turn 27 this fall, this past year will have been just 3.7% of my life. Christmas was always so far away as a kid, but it was really only the fifth (or sixth or seventh) one, so the rest of my young life filled up the rest of my memories.

Why then, is the opposite is true for a work week? Why do the first four hours on Monday go by so fast, but by Friday, each minute lasts an eternity? Can anyone explain this?

She came out of the door I was going into. It was her shirt that caught my eye first. Very ugly neon green, teal, khaki and black squares strewn about. Her hair was the result of sticking your tongue in a each outlet of a power strip. As she walked towards me, her eyes were longed for the bed, couch, or curb she spent the night sleeping in. As she stepped past, her aroma was a mix of perfume, body odor, and alcohol. It must have been a rocking party.

Have you ever noticed that this old Irish blessing:

Old Irish Blessing: May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be ever at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, the rain soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the hallow of his hand.
is most always introduced with words like "An old Irish blessing"? I tried to find out who really gets the credit, but to no avail. Does anyone know where it came from?

Overall I enjoyed the movie. Two things I didn't like involved the love stuff. First, I expected Julie Andrews to come dancing over the hills singing that the hills are alive with music with Anakin and Padmé in tow. The second was the little kiss that Anakin received after Padmé jumped on the back of the stegosaurus-like creature. I had to roll my eyes at both. But the fighting scenes were tremendous. After hearing about Master Yoda's fight scene, I thought he would've kicked more ass than he did. But it was still cool. Sadly, no one dies at the end like many of the other Episodes. Overall, four out of five robbyb's.

The Screen Savers tonight asked the question if arcades are dead. I could remember them in all the malls. Just recently, the last true arcade in town was replaced by Petite Sophisticate. Way back when, every visit to my grandmother's we would always go shopping. To spare us (and them) from our whining, she gave each of us a dollar to spend at the mall arcade. I sucked and my dollar was quickly spent.

Tilt! was the name of the arcade at the local mall that we frequented. It was right next to the movie theater, and captured a few of my quarters (and Nana's)every now and again. Unique about Tilt! was that every game they had was for sale. I remember Tempest was $250, and Centipede was a little bit more. But Star Castle was only $30. After much begging and pleading, the parents said yes, and my brothers and me pitched in $5 each, my dad filled in the remaining $15, and the game was soon in our basement.

As with every distraction from school, there would be strict discipline placed on the time spent playing the game. My Dad locked the game and tried to hide the key. That was found within a day. While in possession of the key, Mike came up with a brilliant idea. In order to provide your credit, there was a lever on the inside of the machine that was activated when your quarter passed through. The genius was the string he tied to that lever, and hid in the change return. Simply push the change return gate in, pull on the string a few times, and just like that, you had your evening (days) entertainment.

Not that Star Castle was challenging. You had your ship, and there was a mother ship surrounded by three force fields. Once you penetrated those force fields, you could blow the mother ship up, but he could fire these mammoth fire balls back at you. Like all other video games, I sucked. But it sure was fun.

Sunday, I get to go see ATOC on Sunday. Amazingly, Pop picked up tix for the fam, and we'll get to see it on the UltraScreen. There have been mixed reviews so far. Adam didn't like it, but others have said it was okay, but nothing close to the originals. Seems to me that Mr. Lucas has gotten too caught up in how the movie is made, rather good ole fashion story telling. I hear there's a beach make-out scene. Gross. I want to see the light saber duals, and the ships blowing each other up. Above all, I would like to be entertained for the time I am there, that's all. Let's hope I can.

On my walk home, there are two guys enjoying the sun with cigarettes and beer. This is what I hear: "Let me play the devil's advocate here...Girls got a lot going on in their heads and in their bodies...That's not an excuse for what she did, but..." and I fall out of ear shot. I wonder what she did?

The only thing that pops into my head after viewing this picture is the quote, "To go where no one has gone before."

My fiancée and her friends tend to find disgust in the fact that I wear T-shirts from high school. I don't think it's that they're from 1990-94, but rather they represent high school activities. (Most are from swimming.) So I went and bought a new T to start replacing the old ones. It will be easy to identify the old ones by the dates on the shirts and the large, yellow stains in the armpits.

I believe this is what the advertising world calls 'branding.' Besides, it cuts down on maintenance costs.

The Badger Herald received an admittance letter from the suspected mailbox bomber, but yet this AP article mentions that it was unclear how Helder became a suspect. Where's the love?

[Update: This CNN.com article does. AP story must be a bit old.]

You know that this girl probably had the biggest smile on her face when she go to the bottom.
